the Designer the Filmmaker the Programmer

I am a designer, a programmer and a filmmaker. My unique set of skills has equipped me with a wide perspective both in my professional and personal life. I have multidisciplinary experience in IT, advertising, marketing and promotion sectors, along with technical knowledge in production. Knowing the constraints and capabilities allows me to see the full picture and provides freedom to use the tools creatively.

I enjoy reading about art, design and technology. I'm a quick learner and adaptive to the changing conditions as well as technological advancements. I highly value collaboration and knowledge exchange. I believe it creates a strong bond between people and a friendly working environment, consequently improving the quality of work. With that in mind, I have supervised teams and given consultancy about project management.

In my personal life I dance the lindy hop. I've attended several international lindy hop festivals and workshops. I like listening to oldies, classical and jazz music, traveling, discovering different cultures and languages, following art events and independent cinema.

the Designer

bw half portrait, Ali Inhan half portrait, Ali Inhan As a designer I tend to create clean-cut graphics/visuals that concentrate on the message. I particularly like typography and pure design as well as striking imagery. I'm detail oriented but I always keep the big picture in sight. To me good communication requires a good design that keeps user satisfaction and behavior at its focus while maintaining trust to the company and meeting its expectations.

I enjoy designing and working with visuals. I've been designing products, websites and mobile apps as well as creating illustrations and graphics for print. Additionally, my graduate degree in film production gave me a chance to incorporate my graphic vision into the screen.

My interest lies mainly in creating digital products and services that are focused on user experience. Because, unlike their conventional counterparts, there's an ongoing dialogue with consumers throughout their use. And this allows constant improvement in accordance with changes in services as well as user behavior and expectations.

I like empathizing with and advocating end-users, subsequently making their experience pleasant. As a result I'm focused on creating usable and desirable interfaces while keeping the corporate image and business goals aligned.

Professionally I'm occupied with web and UI/UX design since 2013.

the Filmmaker

My first step in the world of production was through a few commercial scripts I wrote during one of my internships, which was followed by the video production and screenwriting classes I took in university. The summer after I graduated, I attended the Cinema Seminars summer course organized by TURSAK. Ultimately I made my graduate degree in Cinema-TV in Istanbul Bilgi University.

The short films I produced have mostly been documentaries. Additionally, the fact that I find sound in production amazingly strong led me to concentrate on it. I wrote a couple of articles about sound in films and I chose to produce both my first documentary and my thesis project about a music genre.

Apart from the ones I shot during my studies I created some short films for several artistic and commercial events. Among those were a private commemoration film, a video installation for the launch event of Absolut Apeach in Turkey and a promotion film for an exclusive event organized by Apple IMC, Turkey.

The editing softwares I've used for my films were Apple Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects and Avid Xpress DV.

the Programmer

I'd always been fascinated by programming ever since I took the computer class in high school that taught the DOS language. A mandatory HTML course in university followed that.

At some point HTML & CSS required use of Javascript, officially the first programming language I learned. This is followed by ActionScript with its wide range of capabilities including graphic manipulation, which I mastered and by which I learned object oriented programming.

The more I improved my knowledge in client side languages the more flexible solutions I needed server side. Thus I learned PHP, which I would later master. When it came to a point where database got involved I learned the SQL language through MySQL. Ultimately I started contributing in Java during my time in my last position.

I'm now using combined programming languages and technologies, which include markup languages (X)HTML, CSS and XML along with programming languages Javascript and PHP. For database design/management I'm using MySQL.

Complete list of languages and technologies are available in the programming "programming" page.
